03:59 pm - Update Very, very bad at updating recently. I've discovered facebook, feel free to look me up under my real name.
Since May, we have moved, had the cellar flooded (it only flooded once when the river burst it's banks). Graduated with my PhD, gone on holiday to France, got a payrise and lit the rayburn (range boiler cooker thing).
I've now linked my facebook and livejournal so I'll try and keep more up to date. Current Mood: happy

01:59 pm - Update Been very bad on updating recently.
I am now sat in the cellar of our new house that we own (well part of it anyhow). We bought this place about a month ago. We both like it but there are lots of little things that need doing.
My PhD has been corrected, approved, printed, bound and submitted and I am hoping to get the official letter through the post to say I am a doctor!
That's all for now, better go and hang some pictures. Current Mood: happy

03:38 pm - Quick update Sorry I haven't updated in a while, I've been a bit busy.
WE bought a house last week and are gradually moving in, so everything a bit chaotic at the moment.
I found out last week that my PhD corrections are through so I just need to hand in two bound copies to recieve my PhD. This is good but happening at the wrong time as we're trying to move and having to print out hundred of pages and go and get them bound is a bit of a pain at the moment. Anyhow it's been printed and sent off to be bound. Should pick it up next Friday, just before all the furniture gets moved! THen just need to drive to old Uni and hand it in.
Oh, well better go and pack Current Mood: tired

04:29 pm - Message from Dr Heliflower (elect) Woohoo! Had my PhD viva today, went very smoothly. All the holes I'd found and thought of ways to explain didn't come up. Must learn not to be so critical of my work. Anyhow, I've got a list of minor corrections to do (mainly grammatical and spelling) then once I've submitted the updates and they've been approved, I'll be able to call myself Doctor!
Woohoo! off to makes lots of phone calls and drink the champagne in the fridge Current Mood: ecstatic

08:57 am - Update Sorry it's been a while since the last update. I kept trying to update but it kept breaking.
Anyhow. News since I last posted. My parents came to stay for Christmas, was very nice, quite relaxed with not having to rush up and down the country. We all got lots of nice things. Went up to Yorkshire dales for New Year, weather was bad so didn't do much, also G was on call for work so kept getting phone calls.
Big news... I have my PhD viva (exam) on Wednesday so I will find out if I've got a PhD and how much I've got in the way of corrections. I've got a couple of days off beforehand to read through and re-learn it. Excited and nervous, think and pray for me on Wednesday at 11:30 onwards.
More news, after living in this village for a few months in rented accommodation we're looking at buying a house (finally). G has seen one that he really likes and is trying to talk me round. More about that as it happens.
Better go and revise my PhD. Current Mood: excited and nervous

07:00 pm - Week in Bath Just come back from a course in Bath, which included formal presentation, conflict management, assertiveness, leadership and team roles and a team building day. The team building day was mainly outside (in the rain) and included, getting the whole team (8 people) through a web of elastic and back, traversing across a swamp on stepping stones with planks (the people on the swamp couldn't talk), getting a ball from one area to another, passing through two areas, in a fixed time limit (we failed) and keeping a set distance above the ground. The best task was the last one, building and launching a hot air balloon from tissue paper, below. It flew over the hotel before coming back down on the other side!
